Six Open Pathways Beginner Guide: Which First Potion Will You Drink?
诡秘之主六大职业入门指南:在诡秘世界,你的第一瓶魔药喝什么?
This beginner guide is for every new Beyonder taking their first steps into the world of Lord of Mysteries. If the Pathway screen has left you wondering where to begin, this is a practical way to find the Pathway that suits you.
In Lord of Mysteries, these are not ordinary MMO classes. They are Pathways. The moment you drink your first Potion, you begin a supernatural road with no turning back. Every Pathway has ten Sequences, from the mortal starting point of Sequence 9 to the true-god endpoint of Sequence 0.
The game currently opens six Pathways, covering the MMO holy trinity and its variations: tank, healer, caster, melee damage dealer, assassin, and hybrid damage. There is a first Potion for every kind of player.
For current player context, see the Open Beta date and release tracker.
Warrior — Twilight Giant Pathway
"Clad in dawn, with the morning gleam as your sword, you wield your blade only to protect honor."
Sequence route: Sequence 9 Warrior → Sequence 0 Twilight Giant. Role: melee physical damage, tank, and the pillar of large-scale fights.
Choose this Potion if you want to be the player who charges into a dungeon first, holds enemy attention with your own body, and is always marked as a priority target on a battlefield. Warrior has two talent directions: Twilight leans toward protection and team-fight control, while Dawn focuses on pressure and burst damage. Whichever you choose, the core feeling is simple: come and get me.
For PvE, Twilight can absorb punishment and Dawn can deal damage; switch for the group and encounter. For PvP, Dawn is usually stronger for 3v3 and 6v6 pressure, while 12v12 and GVG can use either Dawn or Twilight according to the lineup. Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆. You do not need to memorize a demanding damage rotation, but you do need battlefield awareness and sound mitigation judgment.
Best for players who want to be the dependable backbone of a group, enjoy standing in the fire without moving, or simply feel that the Warrior Pathway is the most reliable road forward.
Spectator — Visionary Pathway
"Transform into a giant dragon, perceive the subconscious, and heal the island of the mind."
Sequence route: Sequence 9 Spectator → Sequence 0 Visionary. Role: ranged caster, healer, and the team's safety net.
Spectator is currently the game's dedicated healing Pathway. Its two stances serve different jobs: Visionary is the standard healing stance, with powerful group healing and team damage reduction; Nightmare shifts into an offensive stance that deals sustained mental damage. In short: a dragon that heals people.
Damage in the Beyonder world can strike the mind and will as well as the body, and Spectator excels at treatment in the domains of the psyche and subconscious. A little psychological suggestion — "You are not hurt. Keep fighting." — may even improve the result.
For PvE, use Nightmare and Dragon Might while leveling alone, then switch to Visionary and Pacification for group dungeons. For PvP, Visionary is the team-fight healer: build for survival and keep the team standing. Difficulty: ★☆☆☆☆. You still need to monitor allies' health, anticipate incoming damage, and chase the very mobile Apprentices. Best for players who like being needed, lifelong healers, or anyone who thinks telling an ally they have not lost health is a wonderfully Spectator solution.
Seer — Fool Pathway
"Graft cause and effect, fool the boundary between illusion and reality, and stage a grand performance in homage to fate."
Sequence route: Sequence 9 Seer → Sequence 0 Fool. Role: ranged physical damage, control damage, and single-target DPS.
Yes, this is Klein Moretti's Pathway. In another game, a role like this would simply be called the protagonist. Seer has two talent directions: Trickery strengthens basic attacks and detonates Fooling marks for heavy damage, while Miracle strengthens skills and favors nimble movement.
Both paths revolve around Tarot cards. Draw Fate Cards and Spirituality Cards to activate different finishing skills. After the Gray Fog Test, the Seer's handling and mechanics received another round of adjustments: Card Draw, Fool's Blessing, Air Bullet, Card Master, and Shuffle can all be cast while moving.
Signature novel abilities such as the pendulum, paper figurine substitute, and Air Bullet are represented in the game. In PvE, both Trickery and Miracle work; Trickery is steadier and Miracle is more flexible, so Trickery is a comfortable choice for solo clearing. In PvP, Miracle is stronger in 3v3, Trickery is stronger in large-scale GVG, and either works in 6v6 or 12v12. Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆. Best for Klein fans, players who enjoy making opponents wonder what just happened, and anyone who loves securing PvP eliminations.
Mystery Pryer — Hermit Pathway
"Pry into secrets, decipher knowledge, and ignite spirituality with the flame of wisdom."
Sequence route: Sequence 9 Mystery Pryer → Sequence 0 Hermit. Role: ranged caster, turret damage dealer, and AoE specialist.
If Seer is the Pathways' physical ranged carry, Mystery Pryer is the classic artillery mage. Stand at range, cast spells, and turn the screen into an ocean of knowledge. The Scholar talent favors sustained ranged damage and area clearing; Sage is a close-range spell-assassin route that combines damage with survivability.
Eye of Mystery, Knowledge Seeks Its Bearer, and Chessboard of the Ages all sound properly academic. In the novel, the Hermit Pathway embodies knowledge itself and pursues truth to its limit. In the game, that truth may be found at the top of the DPS meter — and in devastating GVG output.
For PvE, Scholar offers a steady skill cycle and excellent AoE for overworld monsters and dungeons. For PvP, use Sage in 3v3 and 6v6, and Scholar in 12v12 or GVG. Difficulty: ★★★☆☆. This is a ranged-mage comfort zone, and much of its kit can be used while moving. Best for players who always look for a mage first and enjoy the moment a cast finishes and the world goes quiet.
Apprentice — Door Pathway
"Traverse the Spirit World, roam the cosmos, and command space with the power of the stars."
Sequence route: Sequence 9 Apprentice → Sequence 0 Door. Role: melee caster, control damage, and high-mobility burst.
This is one of the game's most distinctive roles: a melee spell-assassin. Create spatial rifts, use stellar gravity to pull enemies close, and finish them with a point-blank burst. Apprentice also has the greatest mobility in the game: teleportation, blinking, and Spirit World traversal. If an Apprentice wants to leave, catching one is another matter entirely.
The Door Pathway's iconic novel abilities are opening doors and Spirit World travel, translated here into a movement-skill system. Your core play pattern is constant repositioning: appear where an opponent least wants to see you.
For PvE, choose Flash Assault for fixed-position damage and Star Patrol for mobile fights. Boss encounters demand mechanical knowledge because you are fragile. For PvP, Flash Assault favors group finishing while Star Patrol favors single-target control. Difficulty: ★★★★☆. It is one of the most execution-heavy, awareness-heavy, mobile Pathways in the game. Best for players who consider standing still an affront to the soul and prefer never to use the front door.
Bard — Sun Pathway
"Burn away all sins and praise the Sun. May this body and heart forever remain beneath the blazing sun."
Sequence route: Sequence 9 Bard → Sequence 0 Sun. Role: melee physical damage, single-target execution, and team buffs.
Sun is one of the most complete melee physical-DPS Pathways. It brings strong single-target execution, team buffs, and the game's only built-in group purification. Most importantly, it has a highly valuable cheat-death mechanic. In the Open Beta build, the Bard's cheat-death mechanic received another adjustment; follow the launch build announcements for its final implementation.
Holy Judgment favors single-target burst for PvP and solo-boss fights, while Hymn favors AoE and team buffs for large groups and packs of enemies. Cleansing Slash, Spear of Unshadowed, and Sun Oath are suitably bright skill names. In PvE, use Holy Judgment for single-target damage and Hymn for group support. In small-scale PvP, Holy Judgment enables burst picks; in 12v12 and GVG, Hymn provides high-value team-fight support. Difficulty: ★★★☆☆. With sustain, purification, burst, and cheat death, this is an excellent first melee-DPS choice for players who do not want to tank but absolutely want to praise the Sun.
Choose the Potion You Want to Walk With
Every MMO eventually asks the same timeless question: what should I play? The standard answer is always the same — play what you like.
All six open Pathways have received presentation, numerical, handling, and mechanical adjustments for the Open Beta build. No Pathway is meant to be completely unplayable. Let your first Potion be the one you truly want to drink. This is a long supernatural road, so choose the Pathway you would be willing to accompany all the way toward the ladder of godhood.
And if you regret the choice later, future versions are expected to support Pathway changes. Do not be afraid to launch with the Pathway you love. Go for it.
