Hahaha, You Have Gone Mad: SAN Loss and Loss of Control
哈哈哈,你疯了
For current player context, see the Pathways, Sequences, and Potions guide.
Hahahaha, you have gone mad.
In other MMO games, if your character is deleted by the system, then the game must be the one that has gone mad. But in the new Western-fantasy MMO world of Lord of Mysteries, if your character is deleted, then you must be the one who has gone mad.
Beyonders who have gone mad and lost control must be eliminated. In extreme cases, you will face character deletion. Please believe that this is the most helpless choice. So please pay attention to your SAN value and do not let it drop too low.
Sanity state affected by a falling SAN value.
1. Madness: there is corrosion everywhere here.
This world is mad, dangerous, and can make a person's SAN value drop if they are not careful.
Midnight grave walk: do not visit Raphael Cemetery on the outskirts of Tingen at midnight. If you see something that makes your SAN drop, things will become very bad.
Dance-battle failure: grief can also lower SAN. If you lose a dance battle against another Beyonder at the Spring Night Ball, that negative emotion will directly appear on your SAN value.
Most importantly: never die. No matter what battle you are in, if your SAN drops too much, you will be driven mad and pulled deeper into the abyss.
Also remember: do not look directly at gods. No matter whether you are simply excited or acting for some other reason, directly typing a deity's honorific name into the chat box will definitely bring considerable trouble to your SAN value.
1. Madness: there is corrosion everywhere here.
As your SAN value falls, you will gradually be corroded by madness.
At a lighter degree, your movement will slow down and you will see images that are difficult to explain.
At a more severe degree, you will lose control and become a monster hunted by everyone, until you are deleted.
Your current SAN value has dropped to 0. You have lost control...
Yes. All your effort and all your gains can deteriorate because of Loss of Control. This means that the character you spent endless care and effort cultivating may be replaced by an out-of-control monster, or even be cleared.
Fortunately, there are still all kinds of ways to pull you back before you fall into utter madness.
2. Calm down: let us find a way to restore sanity.
If you are in trouble, go to the official organization.
The Soulsong Society, an order under the Church of the Evernight Goddess, is a reliable official organization for solving SAN problems.
Just as Mr. Fool received help from the diary of his fellow countryman Emperor Roselle, you can also ask fellow players who have stepped into Lord of Mysteries game for help.
As long as you send a plea through the world channel, there should be warm-hearted fellow countrymen from the Soulsong Society who will soothe your spirit.
However, the methods used by fellow players are uneven.
If you run into a fellow player whose skills are not refined enough, you may be healed into an even deeper madness...
Of course, you can also choose to join the Soulsong Society, rescue other fellow players whose SAN has dropped, come to know other Beyonders through this reliable organization, and gain many benefits.
In addition, if you successfully digest a Potion and advance your Sequence, those mad ravings will be blocked out instantly, and your SAN value will also receive a major increase.
Potion digestion. Potion digestion progress: 300/1000. The upper limit for Potion digestion unlocks by day count. Learn and master as many combat-school techniques as possible.
In short, as long as you have not fallen into utter madness, there are always various ways to raise your SAN value.
When your SAN value is too low, ask the fellow countrymen of the Soulsong Society for help.
Many Beyonders may ask: what if I accidentally failed to dodge and my account was deleted? Who will compensate me for the lost character?
Do not forget: in Lord of Mysteries game, there is a god above us. If your character is unfortunately deleted, pray to our fellow countryman Mr. Fool.
Gameplay structure supplement.
The Soulsong Society is presented as an in-world rescue organization for players whose SAN value has fallen too low. Its members can patrol across Tingen, respond to help requests, and assist Beyonders who are close to madness or Loss of Control.
The article also points to Dragon-Hunting City, also described as the End Hunt mode, as one of the major PVP gathering places during the Gray Fog Test. Players can enter and leave the safe zone frequently, and characters with very low SAN may be visible as red glowing figures. This connects the SAN system with active multiplayer combat rather than treating it as a separate status meter.
PVP is described as a major part of the current test build. The available modes include large-scale GVG-style battles in End Hunt, 3v3 fair arena matches, and 6v6 squad combat. The article emphasizes that the game is trying to support varied PVP formats while keeping many players on screen smoothly.
At the same time, PVP is not positioned as the whole game. The main story is described as a solo experience: after waking from a nightmare, the player joins Blackthorn Security Company with help from Miss Justice and Madam Magician, drinks a Potion with Leonard's assistance, becomes a Beyonder, becomes involved in the missing Crown of Knowledge case, investigates information related to Moon Servants, enters mirror-side Tingen, and encounters the steward connected to May Manor.
Outside combat, the game is presented as a city-life MMO with multiple side activities. Players can rest in quiet parts of the city, encounter NPC street events, take part in the Spring Night Ball dance-battle activity, explore Sin Tingen and its prison-escape scenario, try transport and management-style activities, decorate a personal castle space, or follow side stories connected to Roselle.
Overall, the design direction described here is a city that can hold different player motivations at the same time: competitive players can focus on Dragon-Hunting City and GVG, story-focused players can follow the solo main scenario, social players can join dungeons and group activities, and slower-paced players can simply remain in the city and observe its atmosphere.
